Wiki Maria Valtorta:About

From Wiki Maria Valtorta
The Wiki Maria Valtorta is supported by the Maria Valtorta Heritage Foundation.

The Wiki Maria Valtorta is the result of an initiative by readers of Maria Valtorta’s writings. They wished to build a universal encyclopedic knowledge base about her and her work - one that would become the definitive reference on the subject - through a rigorous approach supported by established and verifiable sources.

As part of this effort to sustain the project over time, these volunteer contributors turned to the Maria Valtorta Heritage Foundation, which, among its various objectives, aims to help expand the understanding of Maria Valtorta’s Work - a goal that perfectly aligns with that of Wiki Maria Valtorta.

In implementing this project, the Foundation provides both technical and human support as required. The volunteer contributors populate the encyclopedia by rigorously adhering to the well-known principles of online collaborative encyclopedias of the “wiki” type, which enforce strict rules regarding neutrality of point of view (NPOV). Moreover, for this particular project, a variant of NPOV called “MVPOV” (Maria Valtorta Point of View) has been introduced, allowing readers to neutrally explore what Maria Valtorta conveyed in her writings, based on her own experience.

Pillars of this Encyclopedia

The Wiki Maria Valtorta is based on the fundamental pillars of Wiki encyclopedias. Thus, when building pages, it is necessary to:

  • Respect the Rules and editorial principles of the encyclopedia
  • Cite sources and references so that every reported fact is verifiable through quality sources
  • Consent that the pages built on the wiki are freely accessible and free of rights
  • Accept that the articles of the Wiki Maria Valtorta are constructed collaboratively and that any contributor may modify an article to make it more precise and more complete
  • Understand that the encyclopedia is a tool for secondary and tertiary dissemination, but not primary[1]

Maria Valtorta Point of View (MVPOV)

Given the particular nature of the encyclopedia itself, which deals with and originates from a mystical spiritual experience, the Wiki Maria Valtorta allows its development to depart from the neutral point of view (NPOV) and to adapt this principle, for this encyclopedia, into a specific pillar where the Maria Valtorta Point of View (MVPOV) is adopted. Neutrality in tone remains necessary, but it is not necessary to question Maria Valtorta's private revelation on each page created on the Wiki Maria Valtorta.

Specialized Reserved Articles

As part of this project, exceptionally, certain pages are listed as "Specialized Reserved Articles". These articles provide space for the dissemination of certain texts outside the regular framework of the wiki encyclopedia, offering in-depth analysis by an author specialized in a particular field. The modification of these articles is reserved for the administrators of the Wiki Maria Valtorta in collaboration with the authors of these specialized articles.

The Maria Valtorta Heritage Foundation

The Wiki Maria Valtorta is supported by the Maria Valtorta Heritage Foundation, whose purpose is to promote greater awareness of Maria Valtorta and her work throughout the world. The Foundation encourages the sharing of the moral and spiritual values of the literary work of Maria Valtorta, in the name of universal fraternity and as a public good.

The Foundation preserves and protects the original manuscripts of Maria Valtorta which, along with the Viareggio House-Museum (Italy), constitute the main heritage of the Foundation, received by inheritance from Maria Valtorta, from her first heir Marta Diciotti and, subsequently, from the publisher Emilio Pisani who, together with his wife Claudia Vecchiarelli, founded the Foundation in 2010.

References

  1. An encyclopedia is not a primary source of information but serves to disseminate and summarize information from other sources. Primary source: The original material (e.g., a scientific experiment, a historical document, a literary work). Secondary source: An analysis or commentary on a primary source (e.g., a critical essay or a review). Tertiary source: The collection and synthesis of information from primary and secondary sources (e.g., the encyclopedia itself, which summarizes everything in an accessible manner). In other words, an encyclopedia is useful for a basic understanding or an initial approach to a subject, but not for in-depth analysis or research, as would be the case if one turned directly to primary or secondary sources.
