Simon of Kerioth
Father deceased of Judas of Kerioth. Married to Mary, he has only this only son whom he spoils.
"He loved me greatly. I was his Pride."[1]
"My father's dream was to make me a great man of the world and he separated me quickly and too deeply from my mother..."[2]This education partly explains Judas's character which will lead him to the destiny we know of, as testified by Jesus:
"His Heart (that of Simon) lacked no Pride. That is why he distanced the son from his mother too early, and he helped, too, to develop the moral heredity he passed on to his son by sending him to Jerusalem. It is painful to say it, but surely the Temple is not a place where hereditary Pride is likely to diminish..."[3]
His name
סיימון[4].
Simon, like Simeon (Chimon-Shim'ôn), means "he who hears". Historical reference: the second son of Jacob who will be held hostage by his brother Joseph, who became Pharaoh's steward.
