Banquet
A social occasion of celebration and joy, this event is used in certain evangelical parables, which are also recounted in the work of Maria Valtorta.
In "The Gospel as Revealed to Me"
- Parable of the king who holds the Weddings for his son, told at Bethany: Then he said to his servants, "The wedding is ready, but the guests were not worthy. Go therefore to the crossroads, and invite to the Weddings all whom you can find."[1]-[2]
- Do not take the first place at Banquets: Jesus says: "Always make this your rule of conduct: when you are invited to a Wedding Banquet, always choose the last place. Double honor awaits you when the master says to you: "Friend, come up higher". Honor of merit and honor of humility. Whereas... Oh, sad moment for a proud person to have the shame of being told: 'Go there, to the lowest place, for there is someone more important than you.' And do the same in the secret Banquet of your spirit for the Weddings with God. He who humbles himself will be exalted, and he who exalts himself will be humbled."[3] and [4]
- Banquet whose guests make excuses and avoid attendance: He had invited many people but they all excused themselves one after the other. He said to his servant: go on the roads, along the hedges, make the people come so that my house is full. One thing is sure: not a single one of the first guests will taste my feast[5] (at Megiddo, in the house of Ishmael Ben Fabi who had rejected the needy including Mary and Matthias of Chuza[6])
- Banquet of charity offered on the occasion of the 3rd Passover in the palace of Johanna of Chuza, at the request of Jesus, to beggars, cripples, confessors, orphans, elders, and young widows. This Banquet is the concrete application of the two king's Banquets mentioned above.[7]
