Simon of Isaac
Galilean from Capernaum. This notorious adulterer is a party companion of Matthew. He participates in the feast he gives for his regeneration.[1]
Perhaps he is the same one whom Jesus meets later. He speaks of his daughter and children in general to pray:"I thank you, O Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, for having Hidden these things from the wise and the learned and for revealing them to the little ones" (EMV 266).
His name
Simeon, like Simon (Chimon- Shim'ôn), means "he who hears." Historical reference: the second son of Jacob who was held hostage by his brother Joseph, who had become steward of Pharaoh.
