Example (to be exemplary)

In "The Gospel as it was revealed to me"

    • "The garden of the Redeemer is the earth and the lilies are the children [...] So know what the first condition to be Mine is. I do not tell you difficult words. I do not give you even more difficult examples. I say to you 'Take example from these children' [...] Be like them: simple, pure, loving, sincere, [[Believers, Beliefs, Faithful, Righteous|believing]."[2]
    • He (the priest/the disciple) speaks through the purity of his glances, his actions, his words, his works. Man looks. And he sees someone who is like him. But beyond and above the flesh, what does he see? Something that slows his hurried pace, that makes him reflect and conclude: "This man, my peer, has only the exterior of man. He has the Soul of an angel."
And, if he is unbelieving, he concludes: "Because of him, I believe that there is a God and a Heaven." And if he is lustful, he says: "This man, my equal, has a heavenly gaze. I restrain my senses not to profane them." And, if he is a miser, he decides: "Following the example of this one who is not attached to wealth, I stop being greedy." And, if he is a wrathful, fierce man, in front of this gentleness he becomes a more peaceful being. A holy priest can do so much.
And, believe me, there will always be among the priests saints who will still know how to die for the love of God and the Neighbor, and they will know how to do it so gently, after having practiced perfection all their life with such gentleness, that the world will not even notice them. But, if the world does not become entirely impurity and idolatry, it will be because of them: the heroes of silence and faithful activity. And they will have your smile, pure and shy. For there will always be Andrew the Apostle. There will be, Grace to God and for the happiness of the world!"[3]
    • I am not a people’s leader who says to his people: "Suffer for me, while I am at ease." No. I suffer first to give you the example. I am not a military leader who says to his armies: "Fight to defend me, die to give me life." No. I fight first.[4]
    • You must also preach my Doctrine by your way of life, of living among yourselves, and with those who Homelent you. So be sober, patient, honest in your conversations and your Actions, in your glances, so that justice emanates from you like a fragrance.[5]
    • "Dear Birds! How much of an example they are for men! They are content with little, and only with what is permitted and holy. (…) The animals are always happy because they do not feel remorse in their Hearts that reproach them for nothing."[6]
