In the Bible and in the work of Maria Valtorta, the metaphor of physical combat is regularly used to represent the higher spiritual battle that takes place within a Soul for its salvation. Divine Protection Against diabolical temptations is granted to those who call to arms the prayer and confident abandonment into the hands of God.

In "The Gospel as It Was Revealed to Me"

  • Request of Judas to Jesus: These are your friends, and God's, aren't they? Then explain to me why they have been unhappy? And Anne? She was killed for loving you...[1]
  • To deflect the evil blows that he directs at you, my Presence is enough. I will stand between Satanic weapons and your persons, and I accept to be wounded in your place because I love you.[2]
  • The union with God is the weapon that no strong man can overcome: "When a strong and good man armed guards his palace, his goods are safe; but if a stronger than he comes upon him and defeats him, he takes away the armor on which he relied and distributes his spoils."[3][4]
  • Behold,[5] O men, the true defense Against the misfortunes of man. The supernatural weapons: by raising mountains of charity, by lowering peaks of Pride, by straightening the crooked paths of concupiscence, by removing from the path the obstacle of sensuality. Then the glory of the Lord will appear, and man will be defended by God Against the traps of the Enemies spiritual and material.[6]
  • I, good as I seem persecuted and as I will seem struck, will console and protect you. Do not fear...[7]

The Notebooks of 1943

  • Dictation of November 23: Leave what is not my pasture. Gather around the Cross. It is the insignia of victory over all the Enemies of humans. All the Enemies. Those from outside who come from wars, epidemics, famines. Those from inside, doubly, immeasurably destructive, which come from the spirit of the world, rationalism, the triple idolatry, a maneuver of Satan.
  • Dictation of December 29: Only God, O Christians, could give you this Name as a sign of salvation for all the lineages of the earth, this Name which the Angels will read on the forehead of those who shall not die forever and Grace by which they will preserve them from the plagues of the last hour, just as this Name has already preserved the elect who, in the heavenly dwelling, sing the holiness of the Name of my Son.[8]
