Relics
from Latin reliquiae: remains
What remains of a person honored as a saint (bodily elements, objects that belonged to them). The Worship rendered to Relics, which is addressed to saints, is a Worship of respect and not of ADoration, reserved for God alone. This Worship dates back to the martyrs of the early centuries, on whose tombWaterx people came to pray and celebrate mass.[1]
In "The Gospel as It Was Revealed to Me"
- A man healed asks to leave with "Relics" of Jesus.[2]
- Mary, supported by her sister-in-law and the Magdalene, followed by Martha, Mary of Zebedee and Susanna, who gathered the nails, pincers, the crown, the sponge and the rosWater.[3]
- The Holy Face imprinted on the veil of (Vero)nica.[4]
- The centurion Longinus brings the holy lance to Mary.[5]
- Elijah, one of the shepherds of Bethlehem, returns to the manger to shout his joy at knowing the Christ risen. "Now I went there to say at this place: 'I am happy' and to take what I can. We have decided so. We want to preach his Faith, but we will receive strength from a piece of this wall, a handful of this earth, a splinter of these potWaterx. We are not holy enough to dare take the earth of Calvary..."[6]
- The cloths that surrounded the body of Jesus were removed.[7]
- Lazarus and Nicodemus bring back the shrouds: the first (the face shroud?) is kept in a wooden statue (cedar) representing Jesus. This is therefore the first crucifix. The other (the Shroud of Turin?) is given to Mary. Jesus' clothes were not found.[8]
In the other works of Maria Valtorta
The Notebooks of 1943
- Catechesis of July 22: Can you say that I did not love this land (Italy) where I brought the Relics of my life and death: the house of Nazareth where I was conceived in an embrace of luminous ardor between the divine Spirit and the Virgin, and the Shroud on which the sweat of my death imprinted the mark of my suffering, endured for humanity? (Salton Maria Valtorta, these two Relics are therefore authenticated).[9]
The Notebooks of 1944
- Catechesis of January 5 : You do not have Relics of Mary's body, nor of her tombWater because she did not have one. Her body was assumed into heaven.[10]
