Christ carrying the cross - Juan Sánchez Cotán
The Passion of the Christ is all the sufferings of Christ from his arrest in the Garden of Olives (Gathhsemane). It is the mystery of the Passover of Christ going toward death and offering his life out of love for the salvation of humanity. It is in the Passion of Christ, inseparable from the resurrection, that the Christian, through Baptism, also makes the passage from death to life.[1]

- And this Blood does not cry out for vengeance, but asks for mercy for its People who kill it, mercy for us! Jerusalem!!! Convert yourself! This Blood! This Blood! A river! A river that washes the world healing all evil, erasing all fault... But for us, for us of Israel, this Blood is like Fire, for us it is the scalpel that writes on the sons of Jacob the name of deicide and the curse of God. Jerusalem! Have mercy on yourself and on us!..."[17]
- I think what mystery is Hidden having seen the Jews be so fierce on Good Friday. What mystery in the absence of this power of domination in the Christ that day. It was truly the hour of Darkness, the hour of Satan, and they alone reigned... The Divinity, the Fatherhood of God had abandoned his Christ, and He was nothing but the Victim...[18]
